While Google does not make their algorithms or planned modifications to it public, it is widely believed that they are about to institute a new standard that will affect millions of mobile…

Posted by | Digital Strategy | No Comments

Was just working with a partner to try to help them think creatively on how to help market their B2B client.  Here is a summary of ideas I felt could benefit others. I.  LinkedIn    A. Participation in strategic groups (replicated by all those in role)    B. Use service like SearchQuant.net to find and make the right connections within prospective companies.  (replicated by all those in role)    C. Write an Article (not Share an update) and Share with your 1st and Group members)    D. Consider starting their own Group (you get much more access to the members including the ability to email them each directly).    E.  Consider sponsoring an update in LinkedIn Feed    F.  Consider advertising, using advanced features, to only those most likely to consider your services.  This is a PPC model so there is a branding benefit you do not have to pay…

Why Am I Getting Fewer Opportunities Through My Web Site?

Posted by | Digital Strategy, Mobile Experience | No Comments

Are you sitting down?  Okay, that may be overly dramatic, but there has been a major shift in the Internet world.  A shift like this only happens every 3-5 years or so. More Google searches in the United States (and 9 other countries) are initiated using mobile phones than tablets and computers combined. This is HUGE!!!  As a result, Google has implemented a mobile friendly algorithm update that many are referring to as MOBILEGEDDON.  What does this mean to you? It is widely understood that if your web site is not optimized for mobile phones, than it will be penalized by its position within the Google Search results.  This is a BIG deal.  If your site is not mobile optimized and it used to rank in the top 3 positions organically, it likely no longer occupies those spots. That may explain why you feel you are not getting the amount of…

What is Responsive Design?

Posted by | Digital Strategy, Mobile Experience | No Comments

Almost daily our firm is reviewing at least one of our clients’ web analytics.  Over the past year or so, we have seen the number of mobile devices (tablets and phones) used to access our clients’ web site surpassing 20%.  Many predict that this number will exceed 50% within the next three (3) years.  It is incumbent of us, and any legitimate web firm, to figure out how to best manage the users experience. The formal definition of Responsive Design is a web design approach centered on creating web sites that provide an optimal viewing experience at a variety of screen resolutions and formats.  This includes easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling.  These websites work well across a wide range of devices including traditional computers, tablets…

Over Optimization

Posted by | Digital Strategy | No Comments

he purpose of search engines is to provide the fastest and optimal results to any inquiry.  We simply type a word or phrase and more than often we find the websites we’re looking for.  The search is that simple because the answer is right in front of you.  Anything after the second page of Google is practically irrelevant.  Perhaps this is why so many sites run the risk of Over Optimization, fueling the ceaseless competition for the No.1 ranking of search results.  Sure, there are websites that pride itself on its concealment, but for business owners, you’d want to be on that first page of results when you type “DSLR” or “owl neck scarf” in the search box.  If you’re selling a product online, you wouldn’t want your customers to have to go through five pages of Google results to get to your site.   Search Engine Optimization is the effort…
