Database Integration Custom Web Design

Phillips Seafood originated in 1956 as a small carry out shop that sold crabs and crab meat. Today, there are six Phillips Seafood restaurants located throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. Phillips Seafood also has processing plants that distribute their quality products nationally to retail outlets and consumers directly. Phillips had an existing online presence, but needed a new web site with improved navigation, updated design and additional functionality to set them apart from their competitors.

WebConnection recommended the creation of a Professional Recipe Software. This recommendation was made to accomplish the following goals:

• Create an Online Resource. There are millions of Internet users who view recipe web sites every day. We wanted Phillips Seafood to capture a large share of this traffic.
   
• The web site needed to be engaging and interactive. Clear search options, concise navigation and contests with prizes, compel the user to interact with the site time and time again. We spent considerable time developing an effective Web Interface Design.
   
• Create a Database Integration strategy that integrates with their Seafood Across America Online Store. The strategy of combining these two programs results in increased sales of Phillips products.
   
• Establish a database of users. When users submit their own recipes, Phillips gathers valuable information that can be used to better understand their consumers. This information is invaluable in marketing.
   
• WebConnection created a solution that would empower Phillips personnel to administer the Recipe Center through the use of online content management tools. With these tools, Phillips is able to add, delete and modify their recipes and the recipes submitted by users of the web site. The administrator also assigns the degree of difficulty and ranks the recipe.

A visitor of the web site can either author or view recipes. When a visitor wishes to author an original recipe, they can submit it for review by a Phillips Content Manager. When visitors wish to view a recipe, they search using the following criteria (Ingredient, Course, Cooking Method, Skill Level, Author and Keyword). Once a recipe is selected, the photograph, ingredients, ranking, degree of difficulty and step by step instructions are displayed in a printer friendly format.
