Are you sitting down?  Okay, that may be overly dramatic, but there has been a major shift in the Internet world.  A shift like this only happens every 3-5 years or so.

More Google searches in the United States (and 9 other countries) are initiated using mobile phones than tablets and computers combined.

This is HUGE!!!  As a result, Google has implemented a mobile friendly algorithm update that many are referring to as MOBILEGEDDON.  What does this mean to you?

It is widely understood that if your web site is not optimized for mobile phones, than it will be penalized by its position within the Google Search results.  This is a BIG deal.  If your site is not mobile optimized and it used to rank in the top 3 positions organically, it likely no longer occupies those spots. That may explain why you feel you are not getting the amount of opportunities you expect from your web site.

The best way to solve this problem is to re-develop your site (if your site is not mobile optimized, it is likely time for a re-development anyway).  By far the best and most current way is to develop a responsive web site (click here to learn about responsive design).  An alternative to this is a more outdated tactic which is to create a mobile version of your web site.
